Hot water will make rice too soft, even before you have started cooking them, and you will not get the desired results. If you look at the marks indicated inside the cooker, you will get the right idea. For example, consider a small rice cooker, they have the capacity to cook almost 20 cups of rice at once. You will be needing 1 3/4 cups of water per 1 cup of rice for getting long grains, for White, medium grain, 1 1/2 cups of water per 1 cup of rice will be enough and so on.
