Relocation can be a hectic and stressful process for most of you. Especially, when it comes to packing and unpacking all your belongings and placing them neatly and in proper places in your new home.

Although packing all your stuff may require the need to hire some labor from a company like Classic Moves, unpacking it may be even more of a tedious task. For whatever reason people think the unpacking is the easy part but it can be a pain unpacking all your stuff once the movers have dumped them at your new location. So, I wouldn’t be so quick to reject that service from your moving company.

If you happen to be one of them who find unpacking a major headache, there are ways and tips to make the process as smooth as possible for you. Here are some useful tips to make the process of unpacking fun for you.

    • Unpack Systematically: Even before you decide to open boxes randomly, better check and see what you are about to unpack. It is rather important for you to have a copy of the inventory list to keep proper track of your items before the relocation process began. Normally, packing items means keeping things of similar usage in the same box or boxing things room by room. Thus, make sure to check the labels on the boxes before opening them completely.
    • Start Off with All the Necessities: If there is a separate box containing all the essential items, better unpack them first. These should ideally include items that are important to run your house for a short period of time. If you have missed out on boxing all of these items in the same box, better check different boxes and try and take out all the essential items first. These will include medications, toiletries, important paperwork, basic food preparation items, and books.
    • Complete the Kitchen First: Once you are done with the essentials, concentrate on the kitchen. If your boxes are labelled properly, this should not be much of a problem for you. Try and place all the kitchen items that go in the kitchen cabinets and cupboards. If you are unable to complete the kitchen on the first day, try and get the essential kitchen items such as pans and pots in place first. Try and get the major kitchen appliances and some small ones in place that you use on a daily basis. You may shift your attention to your kitchen once the entire house is settled.
    • The Bedrooms Come Next: Once the kitchen is sorted out, you need to shift to the bedrooms. Put all your beds together and then unpack all the linens for each of your bedrooms. It will be a good idea to assign the job of setting up the bedrooms to each member of your family. This will let them participate in the unpacking event and also make things simpler for you.
    • Bathrooms Are Also Important: Bathroom fixtures are probably already working by the time you move in to your new house. Thus, all you need to unpack are the toiletries, towels, and any other items for your bathrooms. A well-stocked and comfortable bathroom is an important part of any house.
