If you own your own home or even rent for a long period of time, it is likely that you will want to paint the rooms at some point. This will allow you the opportunity to add your own stamp to your home and make it look more appealing.
Of course, choosing the right color and type of paint is exceptionally important. This leads to a series of debates before you can choose your color.
But, did you realize that there are actually different types of a coating as well? If you are considering painting then it is worth knowing what they are.
Polyurethane Coatings
This is not strictly speaking paint. In fact, it is simply a clear top coating with liquid acrylic included in it. This makes it excellent for protecting almost any surface in almost type of weather. You can find out more about them by visiting aicoatings.com.au.
This type of paint can be purchased in a variety of colors; it is the polyurethane which is tinted. You will also find that it can be water based or oil based. The oil-based version is generally much more durable but the water-based one will dry much quicker.
Advantages of Polyurethane Paint
There are several key advantages to using polyurethane paint:
Durability
As you are effectively painting with plastic this substance is far more durable than standard paint. Although not impossible it is much more difficult to chip or scrape this type of paint.
Cost
Polyurethane paint is generally more expensive than standard paint. Although this could be seen as a negative, you will find that the paint goes further than standard paint. This is because it is stronger and rolls on easily without being absorbed by the wall.
This means you are likely to use less paint than if you used standard paint. You’ll also find it lasts longer so is more cost effective in the long term.
Speed
A standard tin of paint on your wall will take approximately 8 hours to dry. However, polyurethane paint can be dry in just 2 hours. This is a significant difference and extremely beneficial if you have very little time to get the job done.
Both types of paint can be applied using a brush roller or even a paint pad. However, there is little doubt that if your funds allow you would be better to purchase the polyurethane. It will last longer although you might not get quite as large a range of color.
It is worth noting that polyurethane paint can be purchased in a transparent color, this is often used to seal surfaces. In fact, you might find that this has been used on one of your floors. It is a very practical substance.
The final decision is yours but it is highly likely that if you try polyurethane paint you’ll appreciate how much easier and more practical it is to use. In fact, you’re unlikely to return to standard paint!
